About Me

I am a young and vibrant Bangladeshi Physician who wants to be a public health expert and researcher. I have completed my Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Dhaka Medical College, Bangladesh and now studying Masters in Public Health (MPH) at North South Universtiy, Bangladesh. Currently I am working as Research Associate at BRAC Healthcare Innovations Program (bHIP) project at James P Grant School of Public Health, Brac University.

My decision to abandon my promising clinical career and dedicate myself to public health field is not a sudden whim. Rather it is an extremely bold and heart-felt decison of my life. I have been thinking for pursuing a career in public health since my years in medical school. To excel my knowledge in public health, I have started taking the help of online courses offered by various renowned public health schools. So far I have completed online courses on Epidemiology (CDC), Primary Healthcare(Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health), public health principles (University of California), public health program evaluation (NYNJ PHTC) and many more. These online courses give me the insights on global health education and certainly enhance my knowledge and skills on public health.

I am very much passionate about research. I have 2 open-access, international peer-reviewed journal papers and I am working as  Reviewer in Global Health: Science and Practice Journal, Student BMJ and Thrita Jouranl of Medical Sciences. I have worked as Ambassador in different regional and international conferences e.g. 5th International Student Medical Congress in Košice, Leiden International Medical Students Conference 2013 and Kolkata Annual Research and Medical International Congress.

I believe in the aphorism "Leadership through volunteerism". That's why I have involved myself into various volunteer activities. I worked for Bangladesh Medical Students' Society (BMSS) which is a member of International Federation of Medical Students Assoications (IFMSA) and gives a common platform to the medical students of Bangladesh to work voluntarily on different health related issues. I have been volunteering as a Translator at Khan Academy which provides a free world-class education for anyone anywhere. I am working as a Volunteer at Youth Think Tank on Climate Change and Health which is a project of Climate Change and Health Promotion Unit (CCHPU) of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), GoB. Here, a group of energetic, innovative and enthusiastic youths will perform different activities to promote health throughout the country and they will be treated as the future leaders of the Health sector of Bangladesh. These volunteer activities has immensely enhanced my leadership qualities and taught me how to work as a team.

I took my high school education from Faujdarhat Cadet College which is a military-run educational institute. I received "Basic Militray Training" there and performed my duties as College Cultural Prefect. I was awarded Best All-rounder Cadet for my excellent performance in academic, cultural and sprots activities.

I dream of a healthy and prosperous Bangladesh.
